Chad Called Home!!!!

Chad got to call home for ten minutes last night! It was awesome, and cheered both of us up! He said there are a lot of young kids with attitudes in his flight and they had been mouthing off a lot, one kid in particular. Chad said he had been trying to help some of the guys get the hang of things because the sooner they work together as a team, the better things will be. That morning he helped show a couple other trainees how to make their bed right and a few other things. His drill sargeant made him stand up and told everyone how helpful Smith had been and that was how he wanted them all to be. Then he made another kid stand up and chewed him out for being a mouth off. So he had Chad stand back up and told him he earned a 10 minute phone call home, which is phenomenol to get a phone call home the first week! I think it was more of a punishment for all the screw ups than a reward for Chad. But anytime he wants to punish everyone else by letting Chad call home... I won't complain!!!

I should say that Chad said he was being helpful, but he didn't do anything he wouldn't normally do. Our goal going into this was for him not to stand out, not to be the screw up, but not the kiss up either. He says he doesn't want the drill sargeants to know his name so he can't get into trouble. He said he has only been yelled at once so far for talking when he wasn't supposed to be. He said their drill sargeants were pretty cool, but it was really hard and a pretty overwhelming with everything going on. A lot of the conversation was a blur, but I was so excited to talk to him, and Bella liked saying hi. Chad cried when he talked to Bella, and she kept saying, daddy sad, crying. So I explained he was sad he couldn't see her, but he was crying because he was happy he got to talk to her. She said uh huh, and got a big smile on her face! It was priceless. She doesn't understand why she can't see him and keeps asking for him, so I just explain it as best as a I can. She is really hanging in there though!

Last week was so hard, and it is really hard not being able to talk to Chad. But we have been really lucky to get the email, and a phone call! I know the time might pass slowly, but it will pass and things will get better. And I know it could be a LOT worse! I can't believe I got to talk to him, but it was so great and amazing!!! I just love that guy so much!!!!

That is awesome that he got to call home. I was afraid his class would have a couple of those idiots that talk back to the drill sergeants. There will always be those idiots sadly no matter where he goes but I am glad that he is one of those level headed guys. ;)

I am very proud of you for being strong. It is hard not being able to see or talk to your husband and soon you will hate those women that say, "Oh, I cant even stand to not see or talk to my husband for a whole day! I don't know how you do it." I hate their pity tone and I don't want to hear about how dependent they are on their husband for their own happiness.

You are a very independent woman and this hardship that you are enduring will make you and Chad so much closer. I am very excited that we can now support each other during our crazy military lives. Hang in there October is so close, it is just around the corner. Trust me time will start to fly by and soon you will be back together.

If you need to talk or just have a good laugh call me I can be a good venting outlet and a joker too. But you already knew that. Love ya!

That is a bummer that you don't get to talk to him a lot. Thanks for keeping us posted on everything. I'm sure Chad will do great there. He's already making a name for himself in a good way. Tell him we're all rooting for him!
